About Olney Roadrunners and Olney United 98 Premier Soccer Teams

Olney Roadrunners and Olney United Premier are top teams in the state of Maryland at their age group (1998).

The Roadrunners are a premier-level U13 travel team that currently plays in NCSL- Division 1, which United Premier plays in Division 5. The team is made up of players who are dedicated to their development, the team concept, learning tactical and strategic styles of play, and having passion for the game. The team is highly successful based on the core values of hard work, commitment, development, having fun, and respect for the game/coaches/opponents/referees. The team is coached by Julio Arjona- one of the top coaches/trainers in the area. Coach Arjona has over 20 successful years as Head Coach at the youth travel and premier soccer levels. During the past 12 years, he has mounted over 2500 wins with his teams. In addition to being a coach, Coach Arjona has over 45 years of playing experience from the elementary level to the semi-professional levels. Coach Arjona has successfully won prestigious and highly ranked tournaments such as the Disney Showcase, Jefferson Cup, FC Delco Cup, Bethesda Thanksgiving Tournament, SC Del Sol Desert Classic, Baltimore Mania, Kirkwood Premier College Showcase, YMS Columbus Cup, and the CASL Raleigh Shootout. Coach Arjona has also won the Maryland State Cup and has led 4 teams to the NCSL- Division 1 Championship over the years.

Coach Arjona is also the Director of the MSC United Academy which focuses on player development. Between his teams and Academy, Coach Arjona has produced numerous individual talented soccer players that have played for USSF Academy Programs, prestigious High Schools, Nationally Ranked Colleges, United States National Youth Teams and teams in Europe. Some of the Colleges and International Teams include: Ohio State University, George Mason University, West Virginia University, Villanova University, Saint Francis University, Loyola Baltimore University, Sporting Porto in Portugal and two Second Division Teams in Germany and Sweden.

Recently, Coach Arjona was named Coach/Trainer of two Real Maryland FC teams for Super Y play in 2012.

The Roadrunners are also the Maryland State Champions in futsal and looks to defend the title in January 2012. Recently, the team held the #3 ranking in the country in futsal. The Roadrunners also just won the Virginia Beach Columbus Day Tournament (October 2011) with 4 straight victories.

The Roadrunners have an Assistant Coach Brian Bridegum who brings over 25 years of coaching, training, playing (including collegiate) and referee experience to the team. Coach Bridegum has led multiple teams to championships at different levels of youth soccer and has received many awards for his development of players, both and off the field. Coach Bridegum also was recently named to the Real Maryland FC coaching staff as well.
